ESBA Turnaround Expertise

As a professional organization, ESBA brings extensive experience and expertise to its clients to assist them in developing and executing effective plans for solving complex financial, organizational, and operational problems and "turning around" the business or organization's performance. We typically work with management to apply these capabilities in a cooperative effort to execute change and restore the business or organization to health.

ESBA’s initial focus may be on developing an in-depth look at a specific aspect of a troubled business, or it may encompass a complete overview of the entire business. We match the skills of our individual consultants to the particular needs of an engagement whether the issues relate to a specific area or affect the operation as a whole. ESBA's analysis will describe both what is right as well as what is wrong with the business or the problem area.

As a part of the analytical process ESBA will develop recommendations to address the problems that are identified. The recommendations will be detailed and, in an overview, will address each functional area of the business including sales and marketing, operations, finance, organizational structure, and if appropriate inventory control. The recommendations will be prioritized giving the business a clear description of those items that must be addressed first, and those that can wait until appropriate information and/or other resources are available.

In many instances ESBA is also called upon to work with the management team to help implement the recommendations. This may involve taking direct responsibility for execution of some or all of the recommendations, or we may advise and work with management to help them with various aspects of the implementation process. The level of this involvement is up to the client and can be as deep or as cursory as the circumstances and needs of the business dictate.

ESBA is frequently asked to share information about the report and recommendations with the client's lenders or other constituencies, and often one of our functions for our clients is to assist them in managing the relationship with their lender. However, in keeping with ESBA’s strict confidentiality agreements with its clients, these meetings are carefully planned and discussed with the client in detail prior to any discussions taking place.

In essence, in the turnaround process ESBA will create a detailed and prioritized turnaround plan that the company or organization can use as a “road map” for its return to effective performance. This plan can also be used to effectively communicate the company’s action plan to its lender and other interested parties, and as noted ESBA stands ready to work with management to implement parts or all of the plan as appropriate to meet management's needs.
