MYRON A. BLOOM, ESQUIRE
Managing Director
Myron´s main focus is on advising Debtors, Committees, Creditors and Trustees on financial, operational and investigative matters.
Myron has over 30 years of experience representing debtors, creditors, committees and others in both in-court and out-of court insolvency matters. Prior to joining ESBA in 2010, Myron was a Shareholder and Chair of the Bankruptcy Practice Group of the law firm of Hangley Aronchick Segal & Pudlin, where his practice was concentrated in the areas of corporate reorganization, bankruptcy, commercial workouts and creditors’ rights. He has been regularly selected for inclusion in Chambers USA: America’s Leading Lawyers for Business and Best Lawyers in America. He is a member of the American Bankruptcy Institute, American Arbitration Association Commercial Panel, and is a former staff member of the Commission on the Bankruptcy Laws of the United States. Bloom earned a Bachelor’s Degree from Hamilton College and a J.D. with honors from George Washington University National Law Center.
Myron´s experience is wide-ranging, covering industries including:
- High-Tech - representing a computer company in what is believed to be the first successful Chapter 11 reorganization of such a company in the United States; and a start-up company attempting to install e-commerce devices in passenger railway cars
- Construction - representing the creditors´ committees of general contractors in Chapter 11; and subcontractors as debtors, in which significant issues involving completion and performance bonds were raised
- Manufacturers and Remanufacturers - representing smelting, coal, automotive aftermarket, and steel companies in connection with their financial restructurings
- Retailers - representing debtors, including those in such diverse areas as aftermarket auto parts, clothing, accessories, and fitness equipment; and creditors, including the creditors´ committee of a well known automobile dealership
- Surety Companies - representing sureties in real estate and telecommunications cases
- Financial Institutions - representing banks as secured and unsecured creditors in a wide variety of matters
- Healthcare - representing hospitals, such as the former Delaware Valley Medical Center; creditors of hospitals, such as the bondholders’ committee of the former Metropolitan Hospital in its Chapter 11 case; and nursing homes as debtors
- Real Estate - representing developers, both in their capacity as debtors and as landlords, in numerous in-court and out-of court matters in such cases as the Hechinger´s, Jamesway, and Ames Chapter 11 cases; mortgage companies, including acting as co-counsel for a multi-billion dollar "sub-prime" mortgage origination company; and creditors of developers, including the creditors´ committee of two large hotels at New York´s two major airports.
Additionally, Myron has represented Officers and Directors being sued for various breaches of duty and in other capacities.
